Infosys and Shell have partnered for green data centers.

Infosys and Shell have partnered to develop an integrated green data center offering, combining their Digital and Energy capabilities with a network of partners.

The partnership between Shell Immersion Cooling Fluid and Infosys Topaz will accelerate the adoption of immersion cooling services for data centers. The joint solutions will help customers optimize their data servers, hardware, and IT components and enhance operational efficiency.

Shell immersion cooling technology has the potential to reduce CO2 emissions by up to 30% and the production of energy footprints by up to 48%. Using Infosys’ digital solutions and Shell’s immersion cooling, the two companies will test this. Both Infosys and Shell plan to expand the offer to additional customers worldwide after the pilot program at their respective data centers.

Shell immersion cooling fluid is a synthetic, single-phase immersion cooling fluid designed to maximize the energy efficiency and performance of data servers and IT components. , Infosys Topaz, is an AI-first set of services, solutions, and platforms that uses generative AI technologies.

According to industry estimates data centers account for as much as 1.5% of global CO2 emissions and up to 1.5% of global electricity consumption. Data center demand is predicted to increase faster than ever thanks to AI, and AI workloads will dramatically raise energy and CO2 emissions.

Ashiss Kumar Dash, EVP & Global Head, Sustainability, Services, Utilities, Resources, and Energy, Infosys, said, ” This collaboration will leverage AI-based digital solutions that will create environmentally responsible data centers that can manage high computing loads with optimized hardware. It is also critical that future digital and physical solutions are created to make AI more sustainable and scalable.”

Aysun Akik, VP New Business Development and Global Key Accounts Downstream & Renewables, Shell Lubricants, said, “Based on Shell’s proprietary gas-to-liquids (GTL) technology, Shell Immersion Cooling Fluids can help cut costs, boost performance, and reduce the environmental footprint of data center operations as part of an integrated solution. Working with Infosys to supplement our technology with digital solutions would bring complete data center optimization toolkits to customers, and we are excited about the prospect of helping them decarbonize.”
