The Delhi government announced a 15-point action plan and upgraded the green war room to combat pollution in the capital during the winter season.

The focus of the action point plan is on addressing dust pollution, vehicular emissions, and the effects of open burning of garbage from neighboring states.

Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal announced the creation of specific action plans for 13 air pollution hotspots based on real-time data from 40 air quality monitoring stations in Delhi.

The winter action plan aims to prevent crop residue burning, dust pollution, emissions, firecracker regulation, and tree planting, implement the Graded Response Action Plan, and foster state collaboration.

Gopal Rai, Environment Minister, Delhi, who provided the updates on the Green War Room, emphasized public participation to address environmental issues.

Connected with the Green Delhi app, the Green War Room will act as the Delhi government’s control centre to monitor air pollution and redress complaints, he said.

Launched in the year 2020, the green war room has started functioning round-the-clock with a larger team of analysts and experts.

The Green War Room now includes 17 experts, compared to nine last year, and will be led by environmental scientist Nandita Moitra, the minister said.

“All the complaints received on the Green Delhi app are jointly overseen by all 28 departments, including from the central government, Delhi government and Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD), etc. Nodal officers have been appointed in every department to operate this app,” he said.
