Adani Energy Acquires Transmission Project in Gujarat

WriteCanvas News

Adani Energy Solutions Ltd (AESL) has completed the acquisition of the (SPV)  Khavda Phase-IV Part-A transmission project.

The project will evacuate 7 GW of renewable energy from Khavda Renewable Energy Park into the National Grid,  connecting 765 kV double circuit lines from Khavda to Lakadia and Khavda to Bhuj (both in Gujarat) and setting up transformation capacity of 4,500 MVA. Khavda, the world’s largest renewable energy park, with a planned generation capacity of 30 GW.

It will involve setting up a Grid-Forming 300 MVAr STATCOM by Adani Energy, offering a safe and stable system to balance sudden power imbalances.

AESL will commission the project in the next 24 months on a BOOT basis, bringing the company to 21,783 km of transmission lines and 61,686 MVA of transformation capacity.

The project will also contribute to India’s decarbonization journey and ensure the transformation of Khavda from a barren stretch of land into a landmark in India’s net zero journey.

“As the world’s largest renewable energy park, Khavda demands power evacuation infrastructure that is not only world-class but also resilient and future-ready,” said Kandarp Patel, Chief Executive Officer, AESL. “This investment will establish the critical transmission network required to evacuate the planned 30 GW of green power that Khavda will generate and also provide grid stability.”

The company will invest Rs 4,091 crore to build the 298 km (596 ckm) transmission project. The project also includes setting up of 300 MVAr STATCOM and 3×1500 MVA, 765/400 kV Inter-connecting Transformer (ICTs) with 1×330 MVAr, 765 kV and 1×125 MVAr, 420 kV bus reactors.
